The Nine Lakes Wine Festival will take place at Melton Lake Park, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, just a 30-minute drive from downtown Knoxville.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does a wine tasting work?
Show your ticket and valid ID at the gate (you must be 21 to taste). You will receive a wristband, a commemorative wine glass, a printed tasting guide, a 6-compartment wine tote and 10 food tickets with the price of your admission. You may sample wines at each tent and purchase bottles of wine from each winery. You may open the wine and enjoy it with food at the festival. Or, use our free “Wine Corral” tent while you shop around. We’ll have all kinds of wines and hard apple ciders available. All made in Tennessee!
Can I buy a ticket at the gate?
Yes, tickets are available at the gate, but will be limited when we reach capacity. Purchase online tickets at a discount here All participants must show valid ID at the gate and must be over 21 to taste wines. Tickets will not be refunded if you forget your ID.
Where can I park?
- Park for FREE at Roane State Community College, 701 Briarcliff Ave., Oak Ridge, and ride the FREE Shuttle (Big Love Bus) to the festival, just five minutes away!
- Parking is $10 at the festival site, until the lot is full, on a first-come first served basis.
- You may park anywhere along the one-mile-long Melton Lake Drive for free.
- Drive in and drop-off 200 feet from the festival, which is a level area, and handicapped accessible.
- A few handicapped accessible spaces are available on a first-come, first served basis.
- Need a ride? Uber drivers will be in the area and ready for you to call!
What about Designated Drivers?
We encourage responsible drinking, and the use of designated drivers. They have a discounted ticket, which gives them all the food and non-alcoholic beverages at the festival, and access to our fun winemaker seminars as well. If you do not have a designated driver and need a ride home, Uber drivers have been notified and will be in the area. The Oak Ridge Police Department will be on hand to assist anyone who needs help getting home safely.
Is there food?
Yes, you will receive $10 in food tickets (plus you can buy more). Spend tickets at our delicious food vendors, which include Coal Creek Smokehouse, Aubrey’s, Calhoun’s, This is it Pizza, Buttermilk Sky Pie, Mediterranean Delight and more!
What items may I bring into the festival?
Bring a lawn chair or blanket. There are shade trees surrounding the festival, and you’ll be able to enjoy the waterfront. There will also be seating and shade at the festival, but feel free to bring your own too!
Do NOT bring: Please do NOT bring tents, coolers, or pets (except service dogs). Children over the age of 5 must purchase a non-tasting ticket.
What is a Wine Corral?
Our FREE Wine Corral makes it easy for you to buy bottles of wine, and leave them safely while you enjoy the festival. If you buy a case from one winery, they will transport it down to the Wine Corral, and volunteers will help you get it to the pickup area.
Are children allowed?
You must be 21 with a valid ID to experience the wine tasting. However, children are welcome if accompanied by their responsible parent(s). Keep in mind that there is not much for them to do, except eat and listen to the music. There is, however, a playground and sand volleyball court and walking trails, just outside the festival area.
Are pets allowed?
No pets allowed, except for service animals.

Is there Security and Medical Assistance?
There will be first aid kit at the Wine Corral and officers from the Oak Ridge Police Department on site. Methodist Medical Center is seven minutes away.
What if it rains?
The festival will be held rain or shine, and there will be no refunds for rain.
Will there be ATM machines?
No, but we take debit and credit cards.
Are there restrooms?
Indoor, handicapped accessible restrooms are available at the festival entrance at the boathouse. Individual portable restrooms will be in the festival itself.
What is the Barrels of Fun Charity Race?
A first-ever event in Tennessee, 12 East Tennessee charities will battle it out in the “Barrels of Fun Charity Race” during the festival. Come cheer on your favorite team! All the charities get a portion of the gate proceeds, and somebody’s going to get bragging rights for the win!
Isn’t there a regatta going on that weekend?
Yes, Melton Lake is home to many national regatta events, and the Dogwood Masters Classic Regatta is going on the same weekend. It will be ending just as the wine festival begins, and we welcome all rowers to attend! If you’re not a rower, you will love watching the sport that has been called “poetry in motion.”
Photos will be taken at the festival and used for promotions in the future. Attending the festival gives implied consent for use of all photos in promotion of Nine Lakes Wine Festival.
